Yoga:
Yoga seems already ideally suited to children with its wonderful animal poses. Building a basic yoga practice, children love the supported inversions, strengthening weight-bearing poses, and shivasana, the relaxation pose critical to any yoga practice.
Pilates:
Students learn and perfect the basic mat exercises designed by Joseph Pilates, through an imaginative storytelling structure. Students build strength, flexibility, and coordination while building good posture and a healthy body awareness.
Creative Dance:
This class is about reinforcing a child's natural desire for movement and exploring the vast movement possibilities in the world! They learn simple dance concepts and work with the idea that dancing can be the expression of feelings or ideas.
Modern Dance:
Building on the students' own movement vocabulary, we explore elements of energy, space, and time. Dancers practice technique to express ideas, and there is an emphasis on making dances both independently and collaboratively.
Ballet:
Children learn the basics of classical ballet through a barre warmup, center floor combinations, and movement across the floor. Developing strength, flexibility, and proper alignment and recruitment are cornerstones.
Hip Hop:
Using contemporary music and more pedestrian movement, this class is a fun, non-technical introduction to the dance world.
Mommy/Daddy & Me Classes:
For children age 2 and under, this is a great opportunity to experience a movement class with mom or dad. The class will cover basic movement and incorporate some songs. The parent will get a workout, and baby or toddler will participate in a variety of ways.
